Often players put their units side to side right next to each other not realizing this is bad play.  As a unit must stop when it moves within 1" of an opponent's unit you do not need to do this to keep the opponent from run by your unit with skirmishers or fast cavalry.  Units can be 2.75" apart and still stop this.  This way you can cover more territory, have room to wheel, avoid multiple charges, provide alleys for warmachines to fire down and still flank opponents.
